I’ve noticed that whenever a company makes a blog post about their exciting new branding, they spend several paragraphs breathlessly explaining the deep meaning and symbology of every element of their exciting new logo. And I just roll my eyes at the pretensions. But now that I have one myself, I can totally understand why they do it; so much thought and attention goes into the creation of something like this that I just want to point out all the little touches, so that everyone else can love the logo in the same way that I do.

But maybe I’ll restrain myself, and just say that it’s a marriage of classic MMORPG logo tropes with classic Tycoon game logo tropes. I’m very pleased with how it came out.

I’ll also mention that receiving the final form of this logo was the first of my “this is really happening” moments of panic. (#2 was staring at a blank Greenlight page, and needing to begin filling that out. #3 was talking to a musician to get music composed. I’ll let you all know about #4 when it happens.)

There really is a lot of other stuff I should be showing you all, too, but part of me wants to hide it for the trailer reveal. We’re probably 3-4 weeks out from having that trailer be ready to go (mostly waiting on music, but I’m using the time to get more final-quality art in). The Greenlight campaign will go live at the same time that the trailer goes live. So we’re not too far away from the real marketing push!

About eighteen months ago, I created a logo for MMORPG Tycoon 2. I was tired of using generic icons for the game, and so used a little tool to make what I felt at the time was a somewhat elegant logo. But now we have a real one. This has been a long time coming.

[24,25
